Becoming an Islander

Steps to Apply

Becoming an Islander
How does one become an Islander? It's easy! Below we have outlined the general steps most students take in the process of enrolling at the Island University. Note that all students are required to apply for admission; the other steps outlined are optional based on your eligibility, financial need, and desired living arrangements.

STEP 1: Apply for admission - http://admissions.tamucc.edu

All students are required to apply for and be granted admission in order to enroll in classes at the University. This process varies depending on your country of origin and your academic intentions.

Please visit our Admissions web site for detailed instructions on the process you will take to apply for admission.

STEP 2: Apply for financial aid - http://osfa.tamucc.edu

Financial aid is money that is given, paid or loaned to you to help pay for your college education and include grants, loans, scholarships, and work-study.

To be eligible for federal and state student aid, an applicant must:

  • Be a U. S. citizen or reside in the U.S. for other than a temporary purpose.
  • Demonstrate a documented need for need-based financial assistance.
  • Be in good academic standing and maintain a satisfactory level of academic progress toward a degree or certificate.
  • Enroll for the course load required by the requested aid program; and
  • Not be in default on any educational loan, or owe a refund or repayment on any educational grant.

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to be considered for financial aid. Please refer to the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) for more information.
